History
SDS Swiss Dental Solutions AG emerged from many years of work focused on metal-free treatment concepts, biological dentistry, and the evolving requirements of modern implant dentistry. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, important foundations were established for the development of ceramic implant systems.
During this period, zirconia increasingly became a focus of both research and clinical practice as an implant material. At the same time, new approaches to biocompatible and metal-free treatment concepts emerged, further driving demand for high-performance ceramic implant systems.
Between 2001 and 2004, the first ceramic implant solutions were developed and introduced to the market. The knowledge gained during this period laid the foundation for the ongoing development of modern ceramic dental implants and helped shape the direction of future innovations in this field.
Founding of SDS
The continuous advancement of ceramic implant systems led to the founding of SDS Swiss Dental Solutions AG in 2007. In the years that followed, the company evolved into an internationally recognised leader in the field of ceramic implant systems.
Between 2002 and 2012, significant advances were made in the development of two-piece ceramic implant systems, achieving strength values that today exceed those of comparable titanium implants. Further innovations followed with the development of the latest generation of one-piece hybrid implants between 2013 and 2014.
The next step came in 2016 with the establishment of the SWISS BIOHEALTH CLINIC for biological dentistry and medicine in Kreuzlingen, followed by the SWISS BIOHEALTH EDUCATION CENTER in 2017, which now attracts over 4,000 participants annually.
At the end of 2023, the strategic development of SDS Swiss Dental Solutions AG was further strengthened through the involvement of a leading private equity investor in the medical sector, Gilde Healthcare, and experienced industry experts.
Today, the clinical application and development of SDS systems are managed by a highly experienced team of dentists and implantologists, who have together placed several thousand implants and continue to advance the philosophy of biological, metal-free implantology.
