Study of the Month, September 2025: Tissue-Level Zirconia Implants in High-Risk Patients
24.10.2025 · 1 min

Introduction
This case study demonstrates how tissue-level zirconia implants can be successfully used in high-risk patients, in this case, a smoking patient. This report emphasizes the importance of material selection, preventive diagnostics, and patient-centered follow-up for long-term treatment success.
Objectives
This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tissue-level zirconia implants in patients with an increased risk of peri-implantitis.
- Minimally invasive surgery without vertical releasing incisions
- Supporting healing through supplementation and PRF
- Preserving hard and soft tissue using specialized implant designs (oval in the anterior region, “balcony” in the molar region)
- Reducing inflammatory parameters and promoting systemic health
Conclusion
The patient received eight zirconia implants and achieved a 100% survival rate after eight months. No infections or complications occurred, and the gingival health improved significantly. Inflammatory markers decreased, and the patient reported enhanced quality of life. Thus, tissue-level zirconia implants represent a promising solution for high-risk patients, particularly those with increased susceptibility to peri-implant diseases.
