Optimized production methods and material selection allow for grinding in accordance with our defined grinding protocol in a specified area. In constant load tests in accordance with DIN EN 1SO 14801, which are so important for approvals, SDS has demonstrated that the mechanical properties do not change whether the implants are ground down or not.

All SDS implants are self-tapping and, in most cases, can be placed as immediate implants.

In the case of the zirconia used by SDS, the gingiva behaves similarly in the area of the of the implant shoulder to how it does on bone. It can grow onto the implant shoulder and create a bacteria-proof seal. We do NOT want to destroy this valuable seal, e.g. by using gingiva formers.

The screw connection has the sole purpose of securely fixing the abutment at the target depth during the cementation process.

This is ensured constructively by choosing the appropriate thread pitch.

Depending on the producer, there are two different manufacturing methods for different geometries. Implants and abutments are either ground from

“waves” that have been sintered through or milled from pre-sintered “rods” and then sintered through. The different manufacturing methods have no effect on the product properties. Our producers have continually improved their production processes over the past decades and achieve identical results in the meaningful DIN EN ISO 14801 constant load test.

They are less complex than two-piece implants and better represent the idea of a replacement tooth that is as close to a natural tooth as possible, as they can be more easily individualized by simply grinding them down. Furthermore, fewer sessions are required from the implant placement procedure to the final prosthetic restoration.

There are four basic rules:

  • The prosthetic restoration of SDS implants is similar to that of a natural tooth.
  • Individualization of the abutment post and the implant shoulder can be easily achieved using a Red Ring grinding wheel in accordance with our grinding protocol. Read more in our Prosthetics manual
  • When using tissue-level two-piece SDS implants, a one-piece implant is created from the two-piece implant by cementing the abutment.
T
  • he final crown/bridge must always be cemented onto the implant shoulder so that chewing pressure is transferred across the entire implant.

Detailed information on this topic can be found in our media library.

The Dynamic Thread™ has an especially aggressive design in the lower third of the implants and ensures sufficient primary stability. Furthermore, there is an extremely large selection of implant diameters and lengths in order to ensure that the optimal implant is always placed. In Dr. Ulrich Volz’ 3 HRS FAST LANE CERTIFICATION COURSE and on our SDS video portal, we also explain to you corresponding techniques that have been specially developed and optimized for SDS implants.

SDS has a very generous claims policy and a LIFETIME WARRANTY on all Series 1.1/1.2 and 2.0/2.2 implants.

WE HAVE LEARNT TO THINK IN TERMS OF CERAMICS
SDS has a sophisticated ceramic implant system that allows users to perform implants for any indication that can also be treated with titanium implants. Based on experience gathered with zirconia implants over more than 20 years and daily use at the company’s own SWISS BIOHEALTH CLINIC, SDS solutions have been continuously developed and optimized. Only the products that have proven themselves during everyday clinical practice are brought to the market for our customers.

-> In order to safely treat all indications with ceramic implants, the SDS portfolio includes one- and two-piece implants in various diameters (3.2 mm to 7 mm) and different lengths (6 mm to 17 mm), special shapes, sinus implants and short implants with a length of 6 mm.

CERAMIC IMPLANTS ARE SIMPLER—BUT DIFFERENT
For all of these implants, we have the corresponding bone class based drilling protocol. The surgical protocol is designed in such a way that an insertion torque of 35 Ncm is never exceeded, meaning that the bone is not overheated or damaged during the insertion process. This is especially important, as zirconia implants and drills do not dissipate heat.

The SWISS BIOHEALTH CONCEPT—biological dentistry with ceramic implants: In addition to the ceramic implant system, SDS adopts the treatment concept of treating patients in a fully biological manner. This entails the removal of metal and the elimination of interference fields before progressing to the solution that preserves bone and soft tissue. Besides providing an esthetically pleasing complete dental solution, this also means making a significant contribution to improving the patient’s health. We improve the health of patients, and ever more patients are asking for exactly this.

All of these concepts and techniques are taught at the company’s own training center. Our knowledge and experience is shared and passed on.

-> Benefit: In Dr. Ulrich Volz’ user course, you will gain the benefit of his experience and learning curve spanning 27 years within just two days. We have already done almost everything wrong that can be done wrong. Benefit from our knowledge too.

Today we are able to place more than 85% of SDS implants immediately. This requires a special treatment protocol and appropriate training. Surgically oriented Biological Dentistry according to the SWISS BIOHEALTH CONCEPT plays a major role in our training program, where ceramic implants are “only” one component of this unique treatment concept. In our beginner courses 3 HRS FAST LANE CERTIFICATION COURSE, SDSACT and SDSACC with Dr. Volz, the differences between ceramic implants and titanium implants are taught in detail; shown how our SDS implants should be placed correctly, including the special SDS drilling protocol according to bone classes and the complete treatment protocol of surgically oriented biological dentistry is presented – always with the primary goal, “the healthy patient”.

Benefit from our 20 years of experience and learning curve with ceramic implants and over 27 years of expertise in Biological Dentistry, which we are happy to share with you in these two course days.

Since the introduction of the SDS user courses, the success rate of our SDS users has greatly improved and contributed significantly to the benefit of all involved, including the patients.

Further information on our training courses

In 2019, more than 23.000 SDS implants were sold in the DACH region (Germany/Austria/Switzerland).

In total, SDS has more than 500 users for example from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United States of America and Japan.

We believe that the bone formed by the body itself is always the best bone and have therefore developed a treatment concept with our special implant forms and the SWISS BIOHEALTH CONCEPT, which in most cases allows to completely dispense with foreign materials.

The dietary supplements we have developed are a key component of the treatment concept and improve our success rates.

Unlike titanium implants, zirconia implants only heal in clean, healthy bone and the dietary supplements help to rebuild bone and soft tissue.

You do not require any instruments or prosthetic parts. The procedure is the same as that for a natural tooth that is being prepared for a crown or bridge restoration: grind, mold, place.

Generally speaking, three months in the lower jaw and six months in the upper jaw. These times can often be reduced if good primary stability has been achieved. Most SDS implants are placed immediately but not loaded.

SDS ceramic implants are at least as stable as titanium implants. The annual evaluation last year (2019) shows a fracture rate of 0.2% across all products.

There are many reasons why ceramic is a healthy alternative to titanium. On the one hand, allergic reactions or intolerances can occur with titanium. For patients who are looking for overall health without having unnecessary metals in their bodies, SDS Swiss Dental Solutions implants are the right choice. Furthermore, the aesthetic aspect of ceramic implants is decisive for conscious patients. With our ceramic implants, which resemble the natural white of the teeth, unpleasant insights can be avoided.

Our implants are subjected to the ISO 14801 load test to ensure maximum safety and stability. Many patients have had our implants for more than two decades and can still start the day with a smile every day.

The higher price reflects the elaborate production processes and the high quality materials. In addition, dentists at SDS Swiss Dental Solutions Implants take part in special training courses in order to offer the best possible treatment.

Our implants are subject to extensive testing, which confirms that SDS Swiss Dental Solutions implants can withstand a lot. The material TZP-A has a breaking strength value of approx. 1,200 mia.

Yes, metals are elements such as aluminium and have metallic properties such as ductility, electronic and thermal conductivity and free electrons. Ceramics are compounds and due to the chemical reaction they no longer have material properties of the original elements. Therefore zirconium oxide has only ceramic properties such as hardness, no free electrons and accordingly no conductivity. Our implants are made of TZP-A.

Implants are an artificial tooth root and serve as a stable replacement for it. Implants fuse with the surrounding bone and especially our ceramic implants fuse better with the surrounding gingiva (gums). In addition, implants counteract the natural bone resorption caused by tooth loss. All aspects that speak for an implant work against the goal of creating more quality of life.

Dentists can be satisfied with their current implants and have not yet seen a great demand for ceramics. However, the increasing demand for our implants counteracts this and more and more dentists are offering our implants as an alternative to titanium. Contact us and find a user in your area.

Dr. Ulrich Volz started working with ceramics as early as 2000 and has personally inserted more than 20,000 ceramic implants. The properties of SDS Swiss Dental Solutions implants represent a synthesis of this unique wealth of experience. No other ceramic implant system can point to a comparable practical relevance. Thus our system combines the demands of dentists with the high expectations of patients.

The actual development of ceramic implants from SDS Swiss Dental Solutions Implants began in 2001, but the first concepts and designs were developed by SDS founder and owner Dr. Ulrich Volz many years earlier during his doctoral thesis. Since then we have placed great emphasis on their further development and live the innovation. We can therefore look back on more than 20 years of experience and more than 25,000 implants are implanted worldwide every year.
